Hijacked truck recovered in Sebokeng

Law enforcement agencies recovered a hijacked white Isuzu truck in Sebokeng including several vehicles during various operations across the Southern Corridor over the weekend.

The operation was conducted by members of the Gauteng Traffic Police, JMPD and the Gauteng Traffic Wardens Essential Infrastructure Task Team (SC), in collaboration with Rentrak, Tracker SA and CarTrack.

Among the recoveries were, a hijacked Ford Figo recovered in Chiawelo, Soweto, a stolen VW Polo GT recovered in Kliptown, a hijacked Hyundai H100, a Subaru stolen during a house robbery recovered in Lenasia Ext 10 and a hijacked Hino recovered in Ennerdale.

According to reports, during patrols in hotspot areas around Vereeniging, officers also discovered a property containing three bins with parts from different bakkies.

EITT members conducted a microdot scan on one of the bins, an Isuzu, which tested positive.

Additional motor vehicle parts were also found inside the house.

Meanwhile, a Tembisa Hospital Official and a Hawks official appeared briefly at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, where they are each facing a charge of corruption.

It is alleged that on Sunday, 23 November, Zacharia Chisele, 53 and Sergeant Papi Tsie, 41, met with the Hawks investigating officer involved in an ongoing investigation of corruption at the Tembisa Hospital.

During the meeting, it is alleged that the two gave the Hawks official a gratification of R100 000 for Chisele to avoid prosecution in an ongoing investigation.

In court, the matter was postponed to Tuesday, 2 December for bail investigations and a bail application.
