Parliamentary Ad-Hoc committee must be very careful of not becoming a talkshop – Advocate Shamila Batohi clearly undermined the committee, writes Dennis Bloem.
Head of the National Director of Public Prosecution, Adv Shamila Batohi, disrespected and shamefully undermined the Parliamentary Ad-Hoc Committee.
She showed no respect to the Members of the Committee, and displayed a don’t care attitude.
The Committee must guard against the danger of becoming a toothless bulldog and a waste of taxpayers’ money.
Adv Shamila Batohi‘s testimony before the committee was a total disaster. She made a conscious decision to answer questions with “I don’t know, or I am not aware.”
If her dismissal attitude and her don’t care attitude doesn’t bother the Ad-Hoc committee, this is totally unacceptable to us as taxpayers.
We expect to hear answers on the allegations of infiltration of the National Prosecution Authority.
We are very disappointed with Adv Shamila Batohi. It seems to us she was doing everything in her power to defend and protect some corrupt elements within the NPA.
All of us can see that Adv Shamila Batohi as Head of the NPA has failed the country. She is a total disaster.

We are calling upon the MPs serving on the Ad-hoc committee to send out a loud and clear message to anyone who will appear before the committee that Parliament is not a play ground.
The country needs answers to the serious allegations of criminal infiltration in the justice system.
