These alterations aim to enhance the party’s organisational management and to ensure that it is prepared for upcoming elections.

The new appointments feature Sibonelo Nomvalo as the party’s secretary general.

Nomvalo’s responsibilities include overseeing organisational management, ensuring efficient operations, and maintaining the party’s structural integrity.

Simphiwe Mpungose has been appointed as the Provincial Secretary of KwaZulu-Natal, with the primary objective of revitalising the party in the region.

His efforts will concentrate on reorienting the party towards achieving victory in the upcoming 2026 local government elections, emphasising mass mobilisation as a key strategy.

Gobizizwe Makhanya has been appointed as the Provincial Organiser.

In addition, Tholakele Dlamini, a qualified industrial psychologist and HR developer with extensive experience with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), will lead the party’s electoral strategy as the Head of Elections.

MKP perspective on leadership transitions

Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela emphasised that the MKP perceives the recent changes as critical alignments, which should be interpreted within the larger framework of the party’s organisational and ideological framework.

“The leadership urges that all forces consolidate around a clearly defined strategic posture. This realignment aims to ensure that the MK Party is deeply connected to the aspirations and struggles of the masses,” he remarked.
