Kaizer Chiefs FC have confirmed the departure of head coach Nasreddine Nabi from the Naturena-based side, following constructive engagements.
The Soweto Glamour Boys said they have mutually agreed with the Tunisian tactician to conclude their professional relationship on an amicable basis.
In a joint statement published on Friday, the Club said; “The Parties recognise the importance of this decision being communicated in respectful and positive terms, reflecting the mutual regard maintained throughout their employment relationship.
“Kaizer Chiefs FC acknowledges and thanks Coach Nabi for his contribution during his tenure with the Club and extends best wishes for his continued success in future endeavours.
“Coach Nabi, in turn, conveys his appreciation to Kaizer Chiefs FC, its leadership, players and supporters for their commitment and support during his time at the Club.”
Despite ending 10-year drought with Nedbank Cup, Nabi’s future remained uncertain after he was asked to step aside from club activities last month before their Champions League first preliminary trip to Angolan Girabola side Kabuscorp SCP.
Nabi, who joined Amakhosi at the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign, brought their first piece of silverware since 2015 — and secured a return to continental competition.
Towards the beginning of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season campaign, the Club reported that “Nabi will not be traveling with the team to Cape Town for our opening game of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season against Stellenbosch FC this Sunday.
“A critical accident involving his wife has occurred at his home in Tunisia, prompting the coach to travel this evening to be with her and the family.”
In September 19, 2025 Amakhosi confirmed that Nabi was currently not with the team as discussions between the Club and the Coach remain ongoing.
“The matter is internal in nature and is being addressed through the appropriate processes. The Club remains focused on ensuring stability and continuity for the players and supporters during this period. As this is an internal matter, no further details will be shared at this stage,” the Club said at the time.
Nabi’s replacement announced
Meanwhile, following the announcement of a mutual parting of ways between Chiefs and head coach Nabi, the Club confirmed that Coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze will lead the technical team for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
Amakhosi said their leadership will ensure continuity and stability as they prepare for upcoming fixtures domestically and on the continent.
