Two people lost their lives, and 13 others sustained injuries following a tragic incident involving a Toyota Quantum taxi.
The vehicle collided with a perimeter fence situated at the intersection of the M2 freeway and Refinery Road in Germiston during the morning hours.
This incident has raised concerns regarding traffic safety in the area and has prompted local authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Lives lost
It is reported that both the taxi driver and a female passenger tragically lost their lives at the scene of the incident.
Additionally, five other passengers are in critical condition, while another five are in serious but stable condition. Three other individuals have sustained minor injuries.

All injured passengers were treated on-site by Ekurhuleni Emergency Management Services before being taken to local medical facilities for further care.
Rescue teams used specialized hydraulic equipment to extricate the trapped driver from the wreckage of the vehicle. EMPD officers were also on scene, where preliminary investigations were conducted.
The bodies of the deceased were transported to a pathology facility located in Germiston for further examination.
