A determined Daveyton couple who’s love story spans an impressive twenty-eight years defied the odds and exchanged vows in a hospital ward.
Godfrey Maboi, 49, and Paulinah Mogale, 44, tied the knot in a private ceremony within the walls of Far East Rand Hospital on Sunday evening.
According to Gauteng department of health, when a car accident on December 2 resulted in the hospitalisation of the groom, this threatened to prolong the couple’s long-waited wedding day.
However, their steadfast love and commitment triumphed as they finally said I do at the health care facility where Godfrey is currently admitted.
Health and Wellness MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko congratulated the newlywed weds and wished them well in their marriage.
“Their story is an inspiration to many that irrespective of the obstacles one encounters in life there is always a way,” she stated.
The MEC further commended the hospital management and staff for support and sensitivity in ensuring that this memorable day was not overshadowed by the groom’s hospitalisation.

It aligns with the culture of service we are trying to foster across all public health facilities.”
Meanwhile, Home Affairs minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has been admitted to Steve Biko Academic hospital on Monday, the department confirmed.
Spokesperson Thabo Mokgola revealed that the minister was admitted for medical procedure and would be unavailable for a while.
