The Board, at a special meeting on Thursday, appointed the Chief Operations Officer, Charles Tlouane, as Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1.

Mashava departs City Power after a decade, following roles including Acting CEO and Group Executive: HR, marking the end of a significant utility chapter.

Her career in the energy sector spans over two decades, including a foundational eight-year period at Eskom and time as a consultant at Deloitte.

Mashava led City Power’s strategic pivot from a traditional electricity distributor to a full-fledged energy entity during her CEO term.

In a statement by the power utility, under her leadership, the organisation achieved key milestones like orchestrating unqualified audits.

“This reflects her focus on clean governance, transparency, and operational excellence, driving them toward a future “clean audit.

Tshifularo Mashava’s impact

“The “10-point energy plan” integrated renewables into the grid and launched city-led EV and microgrid programmes, diversifying energy sources.

“The focus is on managing the electrification of numerous homes in informal settlements and significantly decreasing unplanned service interruptions by implementing a strict turnaround strategy.

City Power highlighted that Mashava leaves a foundation and a transformed organisation better equipped for Johannesburg’s modern energy needs, showing exemplary commitment to residents.
