Dalmain Morris who was attached to the SAPS Gauteng anti-gang-unit was killed on Sunday evening.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said they are searching for suspects who fled the scene in a white Renault Clio.

“The witness who was being interviewed and a bystander also sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to a nearby hospital for medical care.”

Acting national commissioner, lieutenant general Tebello Mosikili has ordered the mobilisation of maximum resources to apprehend suspects behind the killing of officer Morris.

In another incident, police are also on a manhunt for a group of suspects who shot and killed sergeant Holeng Makobe in Mabopane, Tshwane.

Makobe was conducting crime prevention patrols in the area when he was gunned down.

“Three constables who were with the sergeant at the time of the shooting also sustained gunshot wounds and are recovering in hospital. Police are searching for suspects who were driving a maroon golf 1,” Brig Mathe said. 

She further appealed to anyone with information on both incidents to contact the crime stop hotline number.
