Police said following the apprehension of the three suspects, another suspect was subsequently arrested for interfering with the police duties.

This comes after officials responded to a tip off about suspected drug dealing in the area.

According to Gauteng traffic police spokesperson, Sello Maremane, following the apprehension of the three suspects, another suspect was subsequently arrested for interfering with the police duties.

He said the officials discovered that two of the suspects had ingested the substances suspected to be drugs, necessitating immediate medical attention.

“An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, and the affected individuals were transported to a nearby hospital. After the ambulance departed, the remaining two suspects were detained and transported to the Brakpan Police Station,” he explained.

Maremane highlighted that drug dealing and drug abuse continue to pose serious threats to the well-being of the society.

Perpetrators will be arrested

He added; “These illegal substances not only harm individuals but also disrupt families and communities at large. Furthermore, drug abuse is dangerous and can lead to addiction, health problems, and even death. For this reason, perpetrators will not be tolerated and will face the might of the law.”

Meanwhile, two suspects have been sentenced to three years and 1 year direct imprisonment respectively by the Ficksburg regional court.
