The march which is expected to commence in Vanderbijlpark CBD and ends at Johan Heyns Community Health centre seeks to highlight the deteriorating state of healthcare services in the region.

According to HAITU General Secretary Lerato Mthunzi, healthcare workers are fed up with being assaulted and abused by angry members of the community because of the lack of resources.

“Sedibeng has only got two major hospitals, Kopanong Hospital and Sedibeng Hospital. It does not have an academic hospital,” she remarked.

Mthunzi stated that the majority of clinics in the region are temporary structures, most of them are containers which are grossly understaffed and under resourced.
