Shivambu, Manyi joins MK Party

The uMkhonto Wesizwe Party has confirmed that Floyd Shivambu and Mzwanele Manyi have joined the Jacob Zuma-led party.

The duo formerly with the Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) were deployed in parliament until recently.

Shivambu who served as the deputy president since the formation of EFF in 2013 announced his resignation from the Red Beret amid rift with leader Julius Malema.

Following Shivambu’s resignation, EFF leader Julius Malema stated that there will be many others who are going to leave the EFF because they have got their loyalty and support to the deputy president.

Manyi, a former government communicator resigned from the EFF on Monday having joined last year.

He is currently the Jacob Zuma Foundation spokesperson and has been a member of the African National Congress (ANC), African Transformation Movement (ATM), EFF in the last five years.

“The uMkhonto Wesizwe Party welcomes the decision by these astute and well experienced leaders as it could not have come at a better time.

“The onboarding of both these progressive and politically experienced comrades will further strengthen the agenda of the progressive caucus,” party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said.

He added that the two will be deployed respectively according to their strength and expertise.

Ndhlela continued; “As leadership, we ask that all members of uMkhonto Wesizwe Party welcome these two as they begin to form part of driving the agenda of the revolution.

“We wish them well as they pick up the spear and continue the fight for the emancipation of the downtrodden and marginalised people in the country.”

The mass exodus continues as senior EFF MPs Patrick Sindane and Kenny Motsamai also left the red berets to join Gayton McKenzie’s Patriotic Alliance (PA).
