Bafana Bafana international striker Percy Tau’s journey continues as he has finalized his transfer to Qatar SC from African champions Al Ahly.

Qatar SC signed the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Club Brugge forward on a six-months deal but included a clause which could see him extend for two-years if he performs well.
Tau’s move marks an exciting new chapter in his career, showcasing his talent on an international stage. His skills were pivotal during his time at Al Ahly, where he made significant contributions on the field.

The Witbank-born enjoyed his time with the Egyptian Premier League side Al Ahly whom he joined in 2021 from English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion.

During his stint at the Egyptian giants, some of the accolades includes CAF Champions League, Egyptian Premier League, Egyptian Cup, Egyptian Super Cup and CAF Super Cup.
Lion of Judah as he is affectionately known was named the CAF Interclub Player of the Year in 2023, becoming the first South African to win the award.
Percy Tau’s farewell letter reflects his deep connection with the fans and the club. Stating that from day one, he was there to make history, and together they made it.
“You my beloved ones, have been my home and my inspiration for the years I have been with you. Together we have made great and unforgettable memories.
“Together, we have won and celebrated 12 incredible championships. I am really pleased to have achieved all of the great accolades with you, without saving a single drop of sweat.
“Each victory was made sweeter by your unwavering support and by seeing the smiles all over your faces. Your cheers, your passion, and love have been the driving force behind my every moment on the pitch.
“Leaving is never easy, but I carry with me memories of joy, triumph, and unity for representing the club of the century with this generation of great players.

“Many thanks to the president, management, coaches, staff, the players, and everyone who contributes to the club.
“Thank you for being my family, my inspiration, and my greatest supporters. This isn’t a goodbye, but a heartfelt see you later…,” he wrote.
Tau is expected to make his debut in the Qatar-UAE Super Cup final against Al Nasr on Friday, 17 January, marking the next chapter.
