The pre-trial conference for the case involving Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and co-accused concluded successfully at the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg.

These proceedings have led to a postponement of the case, which will now take place on 20 July.
The court ordered the state to provide the defense with outstanding particulars that had been previously requested, and this must be completed by the deadline of April 7.
Matlala and his wife Tsakani, together with Musa Kekana and Tiego Floyd Mabusela, are facing a total of 25 charges, which include 11 counts of attempted murder.
These charges stem from three distinct shooting incidents that are alleged to have occurred between August 2022 and January 2024.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson, Magaboke Mohlatlole, stated that if the defense is not satisfied with the state’s response regarding the case, a hearing has been scheduled for 7 May.
Misleading the court
“The State further alleges that the accused orchestrated a shooting, laundered money linked to the alleged plot, and used a fraudulent invoice to conceal the source of the funds and mislead the court.”
