The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has appointed Selby Makgotho as its new spokesperson.

This appointment follows the secondment of the previous spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago, to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in March 2026.
According to the announcement, it complies with the communication policy of the unit, allowing the head of the SIU to delegate spokesperson duties.
The SIU has expressed its welcome to Makgotho, emphasizing its anticipation for his future contributions towards enhancing the unit’s communication and engagement strategies with both the public and media.
Responsibility of serving as the spokesperson
“In this context, Makgotho, a senior manager at the SIU, has been assigned the significant responsibility of serving as the spokesperson. Makgotho brings extensive experience to his new role.
“He was the first spokesperson for the Special Tribunal at its inception in 2019, showcasing his skills in legal research, stakeholder relations, and public communication.

“Additionally, as a trained lawyer, he has a background in corporate communication and liaison services,” the statement read.
