Metrorail has temporarily suspended train services due to footbridge collapse that left two pedestrians injured in Jeppestown on Wednesday.

The injured pair, a male and a female between the ages of 21 and 25, were taken to a nearby hospital.
Gauteng Metrorail spokesperson Lillian Mofokeng said the Overhead Traction Equipment was damaged as a result of the overhead footbridge collapse.
“Emergency services personnel attended to the two injured pedestrians who were on the bridge at the time of its collapse.
“The injured were taken for further medical assessment at Charlotte Maxeke hospital.
“Metrorail and Johannesburg Roads Agency(JRA) technical team and management were dispatched to the scene to access the extent of damages and work on service recovery plans,” she stated.
