Judith Mpho Moalasi, 41, was reportedly run over multiple times by her boyfriend and left her dead near Mangaung correctional centre.

A police search was launched just after midnight on Monday. This after Moalasi’s younger brother reported that he suspected that something was wrong with his sister, Sunday World reports.

According to Bloemfontein police, Moalasi’s 32-year-old brother received a missed call from her just after midnight on June 17. But when he called her back, her phone was off.

“He suspected that something was wrong and went to look for her at her place in Rocklands but could not find her. Her vehicle was also not in the yard.

“He reported her missing at Kagisanong police station, and a search party was launched,” said the police.

The suspect was found hiding under the bed. He was arrested and charged with murder.

After his arrest the perpetrator led the police to the crime scene where a decomposed body of the deceased was found.

The suspect appeared in court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Free State department of education renewed calls to stop gender-based violence and femicide.

“The basic education continues to see unacceptable acts of explicit and subliminal violence committed on girl-learners and and female educators on a daily basis.

“Mrs Moalosi who has started to work at Tsoseletso Secondary School since 2020 was described by her colleagues as hard-working, dedicated and discipline who go extra miles in performing her duty.

“The department convey heartfelt and deepest condolences to family, fellow educators and learners for their loss,” the departmental spokesperson Howard Ndaba stated.

He highlighted that the department has already commenced to provide counselling to Tsoseletso Secondary School teachers, staffers and learners.
