Three family members who reportedly killed their mother have abandoned bail application following an appearance at the Sebokeng Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The accused, Charity Ntla (61), and his two children Buhle Mnyamezeli (24) female, and Tumelo Mnyamezeli (26), male, are facing a charge of murder for allegedly killing Phumeza Mnyamezeli (42), the mother of two of the accused and a wife to Ntla.
They are also facing a charge of mutilation of a body.Â
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said the four including the deceased were performing a religious ritual to rid the family of demonic forces at their home in Beverly Hills, Evaton.

“During the ritual, it is alleged that the three accused started assaulting and stabbing the deceased until she died after they mutilated her body.
“While the two children were still busy cutting their mother’s body, it is alleged that Ntla ran to the police station to report the incident.
“The police arrived at the scene, while the two were still busy cutting the body, and all three were arrested and remanded in custody,” Mahanjana said.
The matter was postponed to Friday, September 1 for further investigations.
