Eleven suspects were arrested for fuel theft at a Meyerton fuel plant by the Hawks’ Tactical Operations Management Section on Sunday morning.

The arrests involved collaboration among multiple agencies, including the Hawks’ Non-Ferrous Section Headquarters, Vaal Rand Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, Bidvest Protea Coin Tactical Unit, and Protea Coin Airwing.
This multi-agency cooperation underscores the commitment to addressing serious organized crime through coordinated operations.
The Hawks spokesperson in Gauteng, Christopher Singo, stated that TOMS members obtained intelligence regarding a planned robbery at a fuel plant in Meyerton.
Tip-off on fuel theft
“The information was operationalised and the area was placed under surveillance.
“During surveillance, two tankers were seen entering the premises, which a preliminary investigation found had been placed under administration.

“Preliminary investigation also purports that the security personnel guarding the premises might be in cahoots with the nine suspects arrested,” he explained.
The suspects aged between 27 and 46 will appear in court soon.
