Police in Parys are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the body of an unidentified woman that was discovered in the Vaal River.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, members of the community retrieved the body of an African female, approximately 30 years old, on Monday, 20 April, at about 06:30.Â
“Her hands were bound above her head with cable ties, and her feet were tied with a rope. She was wearing a pink shirt with “Beginners” written on it and white Adidas tekkies,” she explained.
Sgt Rani confirmed that the identity of the deceased is currently unknown.
She appealed to anyone who may know the identity of the deceased or who can assist in locating her next of kin to contact their nearest cop shop or provide information anonymously via the MySAPS App.Â
Meanwhile, nine law enforcement officers appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday on charges of corruption, extortion, and trespassing.
This follows their arrests in Gauteng by the Serious Corruption Investigation in Johannesburg during the early hours of Thursday morning.
Police on the wrong side of the law
Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale said the case against the six JMPD officers, two SAPS members, and a Gauteng traffic warden was postponed to Tuesday for a formal bail application.

“They are said to have arrived at a warehouse in Crown Mines where, upon searching, they found a box of allegedly expired dye.
“The group then proceeded to solicit money from the complainant, who reported them to the HAWKS Serious Corruption Investigation,” she added.
The nine were remanded in custody.
