Imanuwela David, 39, and Froliana Joseph, 30, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal, theft, and money laundering.

This is in relation to US$580 000 which was stolen at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s property.

The pair was arrested by the Hawks on Sunday and Monday respectively.

According to Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, National Prosecuting Authority’s regional spokesperson, the investigation revealed that between January 1, 2020, the accused persons conspired to commit housebreaking with intent to steal and theft at Phalaphala farm.

“On January 8, of that year Imanuwela with two others entered Stokkiesdraai farm believing it was Phalaphala farm. They broke and entered but nothing was stolen. The following night, they located the Phalaphala farm where they broke, entered and stolen US$580 000.”

“We are relieved that she will remain in prison because Magudumana is a flight risk who was arrested outside of the country, allegedly with fake fake passports in her possession.

“She has proved her scheming ways to escape prison and can do that again.

“We have always advocated for a country where respect for the rule of law is universal and entrenched in our society, and where our laws are enforced to protect the rights of all people without fear, favour, or prejudice. This is a step in the right direction,” Patricia Kopane, the party provincial chairperson said.
