Two suspects were arrested by Barrage SAPS during a routine patrol for possession of an unlicensed firearm and a suspected stolen vehicle.

According to reports, police spotted a suspicious vehicle with four occupants, who fled in different directions upon noticing the police.
“Members pursued the suspects, successfully apprehending one on foot. An unlicensed firearm and a knife were recovered in his possession.
“The vehicle was later confirmed to be suspected stolen. A second suspect was also arrested.

“Both suspects have been detained and are facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle. Investigations are ongoing,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, a community engagement event took place at Bophelong Extension 13 on Thursday, attracting a significant turnout of local residents.
The primary focus of the gathering was to address concerns related to crime within the area.

Community members used this platform to voice their worries and to suggest potential solutions to improve safety and security in the area.
According to the police, crime statistics and trends in the area were presented to the community, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Vanderbijlpark police station commander Brigadier Phiwe Samuel Ndwandwe addressed inquiries regarding crime in the area.

During the discussion, constructive solutions were proposed to tackle the issues related to crime effectively.
He also encouraged the community to take part in the fight against crime by serving as patrollers and informers.
Furthermore, he stressed that there are stringent measures implemented for individuals who fail to comply with the country’s laws.
