GLOBAL renowned South African soprano singer, Pumeza Matshikiza will make a triumphant homecoming with a one-night-only heritage musical concert on Sunday, September 28, at the historic Rand Club in Johannesburg. 

With limited tickets available, this exclusive event celebrates South Africa’s rich cultural heritage through her extraordinary artistry, fresh from her acclaimed performance of Verdi’s Aida, in Sicily. 

On her way home, she will appear in Rome at Palazzo Farnese on the 22 September.

In a landmark moment, she will be honored at Joburg City Theatres’ 45th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, 24 September at the Roodepoort Theatre, where she will be inducted into the prestigious Wall of Fame. 

This recognition celebrates her profound contributions to the theatre and the arts, cementing her legacy as a trailblazer in South Africa’s cultural landscape. 

The gala, themed Revealing of the Stars, will honor artists who have shaped the theatre’s 45-year history.

“Being inducted into the Roodepoort Theatre’s Wall of Fame is a deeply humbling honor,” said Pumeza.

“The theatre holds a special place in my heart, and to be recognized for contributing to its legacy is a moment I’ll cherish forever,” she reckons.

She concludes: “Returning home for this one-night-only concert feels like a full circle moment. I am thrilled to share an intimate evening of music with my South African audience, celebrating our heritage together.”

Pumeza’s exclusive masterclass

As part of her commitment to nurturing future talent, Pumeza will host an “exclusive masterclass” for music students at Wits University prior to the concert, reinforcing her dedication to giving back to the community that launched her global career.

The Heritage Musical Concert, with its limited seating, promises an unforgettable afternoon of operatic brilliance, blending classical arias with South African musical influences in the elegant setting of the Rand Club.
