A driver sustained minor injuries following a motor vehicle collision on Thursday morning in Centurion.

According to Community Emergency Response Team, a call was logged at around 6:13 and the crew responded to the scene on the N1 South just past the John Vorster Off Ramp.

“Upon arrival, a single light motor vehicle had veered off the road and collided with a concrete palisade on the perimeter of the railway track next to the highway.

“The driver escaped the incident with only minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition. The exact circumstances that led to the collision are unclear at this stage,” a statement read.

Meanwhile, a charred human remains were discovered in the boot of a burning vehicle in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said their members were called out to the scene at approximately 12:36.

“On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered the Verulam SAPS, Ethekwini Fire Department and Fidelity Security in attendance.

“It was established that the Toyota Etios was located engulfed in flames in a sugar cane plantation by Security Officers after its tracking device began emitting signals.

“Firefighters were summoned and were in the process of extinguishing the fire when they discovered charred human remains in the boot,” RUSA added.

The unit stated that the identity and gender of the deceased cannot be confirmed.
