Grant beneficiaries who are yet to receive their Postbank black cards should not worry that they will no longer be able to replace their cards, the South African Social Security Agency confirmed.

Despite the initial deadline, the agency said the replacement of SASSA gold cards with Postbank black cards does not stop today(Thursday) as the replacements of the cards continues.

In a statement issued, SASSA reiterated that the gold card will stop working after March 20, 2025.

Adding that all SASSA beneficiaries using gold cards who have not migrated to Postbank black cards are urged to continue visiting Postbank sites at Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar to change as soon as possible.

“They can also dial *120*355# to find places where they can replace cards. The programme to migrate to Postbank black cards has not stopped, only the SASSA gold card will stop working after today.

Alternative payment method without cards

“SASSA and Postbank would like to assure beneficiaries that they will receive their grant even if they have not yet migrated, but through an alternative payment method at Post Office counters,” the statement read.

Sassa payment dates and increases for permanent social grants have been confirmed for April 2025.

The payment schedule is as follows:

Old Age Grant: Thursday, April 3, 2025 – Disability Grant: Friday, April 4, 2025 – Child Support Grant & Other Grants: Saturday, April 5, 2025

SASSA also reminded beneficiaries that payments will be made through allocated payment methods within its system.
