Postbank has assured South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries and the public that all outstanding grant payments have been made.

This comes after the technical glitch that resulted in delayed payments to thousands of social grants recipients across the country.
Postbank spokesperson Dr Bongani Diako said according to their records, all funds were made to recipients that were impacted by the system incident of September 5 and 6.
“The process of reversing funds into all affected beneficiaries’ accounts has been completed. Many Sassa Gold Cards beneficiaries that had outstanding payments have been able to access their money through channels that includes ATM’s and the retailers.
“Social grants beneficiaries that still wishes to make enquiries relating to their social grants payments can contact Postbank,” he said.
Diako stated that they have also encountered some attempts to defraud the system by individuals who would have received their funds trying to get double payments.

He added; “Our systems are very thorough and the people that are making these attempts will not be successful. Instead, what these people are doing is clogging the system and denying people that need genuine assistance from being helped.
“We condemn this behaviour which will be reported to law enforcement agencies as it also perpetuates the incorrect notion that there are still large numbers of Sassa beneficiaries that have not been paid.”
While Postbank said it had “fully corrected” payments owed to Sassa beneficiaries following a technical glitch two weeks ago that prevented the distribution of grants, human rights organisation Black Sash, reportedly told IOL the impact was still being felt.
“Black Sash are still encountering beneficiaries who can’t access their funds, however, this is decreasing, we can only comment according to the pay sites we visit,” said spokesperson, Angie Richardson.
