The launch led by party President Herman Mashaba joined by Gauteng provincial chairperson Funzi Ngobeni, regional chairperson Refiloe Pule, Director of Operations John Moodey drew members of the community as the collective went house-to-house to garner signatures from the residents.

The former mayor of city of Joburg took a swipe at the ANC-led government for the current state of Boipatong monument which has become a white elephant.

“For the last twenty years the people of Emfuleni municipality have not been afforded service delivery, as we are standing in front of the monument, it should serve as a remembrance here in Boipatong, it’s a white elephant.

“ANC people have left it as is and are busy with stashing money under the mattress. That’s what they are focusing on and not service delivery.

Addressing community members, Mashaba outlined that the Gauteng PET said they know that they did not participate in the 2021 local government elections in Emfuleni but they cannot let them suffer until 2026.

He continued, “If we sit and do nothing, the next elections are going to be held in 2026, we are not prepared to wait that long.

“The constitution of the Republic of South Africa allows us to call for the dissolution that is why it is important for us to go house-to-house and get the residents to sign this petition.

“We only need twenty thousand people to sign and I will be there to lead together with the provincial chairperson, in fact, we’ll even call the Senate and Gauteng PEC.

“We will take this petition to Premier Panyaza Lesufi’s offices to call for the dissolution of this municipality, so that new elections must be held.”

Mashaba is adamant should the municipality be dissolved they will triumph.

“Just imagine if elections are held in Emfuleni in ninety days, ActionSA will win outright,” he added.

Although he conceded that that they won’t be able to cover twenty thousand signatures in one day, but said, “We are going to ask the residents to work with the local people and regional structures so that within the next month, at the most, so that after we give them there must be fresh elections because some of the parties serving are working with the ANC, Some came here as independent candidates saying they are contesting the ANC but today the ANC gave them jobs using the Phala-Phala dollars.

“As ActionSA, we are going to stop this corruption because the work of those dollars is to bribe and corrupt South Africans and our country is not going to be for sale.

“We will operate in a democratic dispensation; let us ensure that we protect our country.

I know that majority of people of Emfuleni are going to support this, because it is in their interest, that of their children and grandchildren.

“This project which embarked upon is not about us but for the future of our country,” Mashaba concluded.
