Mokaba remains a revolutionary and fearless leader whose indomitable spirit continues to inspire generations said League’s Secretary General Mntuwoxolo Ngudle.

“Peter Mokaba, a stalwart of our struggle for liberation, dedicated his life to the fight against apartheid and the pursuit of a free, just, and democratic South Africa,” he remarked.

Born on 7 March 1959, Mokaba’s activism began in his youth, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to justice and equality from an early age.

Ngudle further said as a leader of the Congress of South African Students (COSAS) and later as the President of the ANCYL, Mokaba epitomized the courage and resilience of our youth in the struggle against oppression.

He added; “As we remember President Peter Mokaba, we acknowledge his significant contributions to the ANC and the broader liberation movement.

“His leadership extended beyond rhetoric; he was a practical revolutionary who participated in the strategic planning and execution of actions that brought us closer to the dawn of democracy in 1994.

“Mokaba’s tenure as Deputy Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism under President Nelson Mandela’s government showcased his versatility and commitment to the reconstruction and development of our nation.
