ATM Bomb Plot Foiled: Seven suspects nabbed in Klerksdorp

Seven suspects who were planning to bomb an automated teller machine (ATM) in Klerksdorp CBD were arrested by members of the Special Task Force (STF) on Tuesday morning. 

Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale announced the arrest of five suspects, aged 30 to 58, in Klerksdorp after the Tactical Operations Management Section received intelligence regarding a planned ATM bombing.

“The members acted swiftly and arrested the suspects before they committed the crime,” she added. 

Explosives to bomb ATM’s recovered

According to Col. Mogale, one rifle, one pistol, and explosives were recovered.

She continued, “The suspects will be charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, conspiracy to commit crime and possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.”

They will appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
