The kidnapping involved heavily armed suspects, equipped with high-caliber rifles, including AK-47s and pistols, who were traveling in three vehicles.

Further intelligence gathered by law enforcement resulted in the identification and subsequent arrest of a second suspect in the Pretoria area.

This development followed the dissemination of pertinent information to the Pretoria Central South African Police Service (SAPS), enhancing the investigation’s effectiveness.

The abduction incident occurred following a traffic collision on Von Braun Street, which caused the victim’s vehicle to stop abruptly.

Armed suspects then took advantage of the situation, forcibly abducting the man while ensuring that his daughter was left unharmed, though she was left deeply affected by the traumatic experience.

In a significant development, a joint task force comprising multiple law enforcement agencies, including CPS Security, SAPS, DPCI, EMPD CLU, EMPD SWAT, the Mpumalanga Anti-Hijacking Unit, and Crime Intelligence, carried out extensive investigations and executed intelligence-driven operations.

According to CPS Security, two vehicles used in the commission of the kidnapping were seized, along with one firearm. The suspects are currently undergoing further questioning as investigations continue.

“This operation marks a major breakthrough in the case and once again highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-sharing and coordinated operations between private security and law enforcement agencies,” CPS Security said.
