Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced that coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze will be leaving the club after the expiration of their two-year contracts.

This decision comes as the Betway Premiership season has concluded, marking the end of their tenure with the team. Despite achieving a top-three finish, the club has opted to initiate a new technical project, appointing a new head coach for the upcoming season.
Ben Youssef joined Amakhosi at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, while Kaze became part of the team in October 2024.
Both individuals initially held positions as assistants to the former coach, Nasreddine Nabi, who officially departed from the club in October 2025.
In a statement, the club said following Nabi’s departure, the pair took on leadership roles within the senior team, successfully steering the squad to a notable 54 points in the league.
“This marks the club’s second-best performance in terms of points accumulated over the last eleven years, indicating a significant improvement under their guidance.
“They also missed out on the knockout phase of the CAF Confederation Cup on goal difference, ending Group D with 10 points.
“During the 2025/26 campaign, they led Chiefs in 39 matches across the Betway Premiership, CAF Confederation Cup, Carling Knockout Cup, and Nedbank Cup. The team recorded 19 wins, 11 draws, and 9 losses.”
It is currently uncertain which individual the Phefeni Glamour Boys will select to lead the team, as several candidates are being considered.
Possible candidates for Kaizer Chiefs coaching role
Notable names mentioned in the conversation include Sead Ramović, Pitso Mosimane, Manqoba Mnqithi, and Ernst Middendorp, indicating a diverse pool of potential coaches with varying experiences and backgrounds.
Meanwhile, conditioning coach Majdi Safi has also left the club following the final game of the season and the end of his contract.
The Tunisian fitness guru communicated to the club one month prior that he would not be extending his tenure. He has since departed from South Africa after saying his goodbyes on Saturday.
Goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi’s situation is currently ambiguous following yesterday’s discussions, in which he did not participate.
