Police minister Bheki Cele is expected to lead the annual Festive Season Inspection Roadshow in the Gauteng province on Tuesday.

Cele will be joined by National Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola and the Gauteng Deputy Provincial Commissioner, Major General Tommy Mthombeni.
“The visit forms part of efforts by the South African Police Service(SAPS) to channel resources to areas where they are most needed,” said Minister’s spokesperson Lirandzu Themba.
“The policing interventions will enable the police to decisively deal with crime and any security threats this holiday season and beyond.

Held under the theme, “Combating crime through decisive police action and robust community involvement”
“The Ministry together with the SAPS management team from national and the province will assess the effectiveness of the SAPS’ Safer Festive Season operational plans put in place, to ensure the well-being and safety of all residents and tourists in the country, during the holiday period,” she stated.Â
Themba added that the Gauteng leg of the Roadshow will include visits to areas of business, entertainment and leisure as well as police operations in high crime areas.Â

The roadshow will kickoff with Addressing of Integrated Parade at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Zone 14, Sebokeng followed by Community Engagement at Boiketlong Informal settlement before heading to Thabong, Evaton and Eyethu Malls and Taxi Ranks for a Walkabout before ending with a Multi-disciplinary Roadblock on Golden Highway.
Subsequent to the first stop, the annual roadshow will then be taken to other provinces such as Free State, Eastern and Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo.
