A suspected house robbery suspect was killed following a shootout with private security officers on Wednesday morning.
It is reported that the security officers were alerted about the house robbery that had just happened in Sinoville, Pretoria.
“As they were responding, the security officers spotted the Range Rover that was taken from the victims during the house robbery and tried to stop it.
“The driver sped off, and high speed chase ensued until the car overturned on the N1, Garsfontein Offramp.
“It is further alleged that the suspect jumped out of the overturned vehicle and shootout ensued. The suspect was fatally wounded,” said national police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo. Â

He further added that upon arrival at the scene, police found a firearm, with serial numbers filed off, next to the deceased.Â
“A case of murder, attempted murder and house robbery has been opened for further investigation while a search for other suspects is underway,” Masondo concluded.
Meanwhile, two police constables appeared in the Simons Town Magistrate’s court on Wednesday following their arrest on Tuesday evening.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa this was part of an investigation into illicit activities involving a taxi boss.
He added; “The pair aged 31 and 25 who were based at the Nyanga police station are alleged to have allowed a member of the public to make unauthorised use of a state vehicle.
“Scenes from that irregular occurrence were captured in a video posted on social media platforms earlier in the year. The incident is alleged to have occurred in the Ocean View area.
“An investigation ensued which led to the arrests last night where the two are charged in terms of sections 56 and 59 of the Police Act.”
Potelwa stated that an internal disciplinary investigation is also underway pertaining to the conduct of the two police officials.
