The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has released an advisory to consumers regarding the recall of specific Hino 700 Series trucks due to a fuel pump defect.

This action was initiated following a notification from Toyota South Africa Motors (Pty) Ltd.
According to the NCC, the notice aims to inform affected truck owners and ensure their safety by addressing potential issues related to the recalled models.
The recalled units were sold nationally through authorised Toyota dealerships between 10 September 2024 and 10 December 2024.
Recall Issued for eighteen models
In a statement the commission revealed that this recall applies to eighteen Hino 700 Series models.
“According to the supplier, the fuel pump housing has an inappropriate surface treatment process done during production. Cracks may develop when a repeated high load is applied to the supply pump, resulting in a fuel leak.
