A drug mule who was arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport has been rushed to hospital following health complication.
The 43-year-old male from Paraguay had landed from São Paulo when he was arrested by police officials, deputy national police commissioner, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, confirmed.
She said at the time of arrest, the suspect released twenty bullets but the releasing process has been stopped.
“He has so far released about 117 drug bullets suspected to be cocaine, however, the operation has since been suspended.
“Everytime after the hundredth number was coming out, he started to bleed with every bullet bearing traces of blood which is an indication that there is a medical challenge in his stomach,” Mosikili added.
She highlighted that this is those who takes the risk of swallowing the bullets that its not safe at all as it might rapture or the possibility of the bullets exploding which will result in a loss of life.
Mosikili continued; “In recent days the numbers that we are detecting at the airport and other ports of entries when mules are being arrested show that they have now refrained from using the baggage and resorting to swallowing the bullets which is very dangerous.

“I have been informed that the bullet size is almost ten gram, which is very huge, for a person to consume just one is too much and a deadly dangerous to do and discouraged in all respect it is a medical issue.”
She further emphasised that this must send a strong message out there and serve as a deterrent that this exercise is dangerous and can cause loss of life.
