Famous actress, Sonia Mbele’s son, Donell, was released on R1000 bail following his appearance before the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on two charges of rape.
The charges comes after a complaint was laid by Mbele’s 17-year-old girlfriend at Sandton police station.
National Prosecuting Authority Gauteng spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, confirmed that the teen alleged that the 23-year-old raped her on the 14 and 15 December 2024 at his place of residence in Morningside.
According to Mjonondwane, she explained that the two of them were out on a date at Clear Water Mall on the 14th.
“After consuming some beverages and upon realising that the restaurant they were seated at, was about to close, they both agreed to move to a different venue.
“She said the accused allegedly indicated that he wanted them to pass by his place of residence as he needed to charge his phone. On arrival, that’s when the incidents allegedly occurred,” she explained.
The case was postponed to February 10, for further investigations.Â
Prior to his court appearance, IOL reports that Donell posted on his Instagram stories, a picture of an inside of a church with a bible on one of the stools.
He then wrote the scripture, Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you, declares the Lord.”
