A lookout notice for a car connected to several house robberies in the City of Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni regions was reportedly sent to K9 Unit officers of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD).

Three male suspects, aged 37 to 38, were wanted in relation to house robbery cases that were reported to the South African Police Service (SAPS) stations in Florida, Roodepoort, and Edenvale.

The suspects were driving a hijacked Toyota RAV4 in the Boskruin region, according to Vumacam footage. Officers from the JMPD arrived at the scene and saw the car.

Officers attempted to stop the driver, but the car sped away, triggering a fast-paced chase. The culprits were eventually cornered at the intersection of President Fouche and Swart Street in Boskruin after the SAPS High-Speed Unit joined the chase.

House robbery tools discovered

Masks and tools for breaking into houses were found during a search of the car and the suspects. Due to their possession of a hijacked car and tools for breaking into houses, all three suspects were taken into custody.

The trio was detained at Honeydew SAPS. They were also wanted in relation to nine house robbery crimes, and for fleeing from lawful custody in Carletonville, which was found during their profiling.

The hijacked vehicle was booked into the Lenasia SAPS pound for further investigation.

Commissioner Patrick Jaca, Chief of Police of the JMPD, praised the squad for capturing the notorious individuals wanted in several crimes.
