Police and traffic units coordinated an operation after a tip-off about a gang using SAPS uniforms and a blue-light VW Golf with sirens to impersonate officers, stopping motorists, and robbing them at gunpoint.

According to reports, police spotted the suspect vehicle on the R59 in Parys, Free State. The suspects evaded capture, crashing their car into a fence before stopping in nearby veld.

Two suspects in SAPS uniforms were fatally wounded during an operation. Authorities recovered two unlicensed firearms with ammunition, SAPS insignia, and uniforms. The suspects’ vehicle, equipped with blue lights and a siren, was also seized.

Meanwhile, Zamdela detectives are asking for public help to find suspects connected to the murder of a 65-year-old woman in the Harry Gwala section.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani said members attended a complaint of murder on Friday.

“Upon arrival, the members were pointed to the lifeless body of the 65-year-old woman lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on the upper body, and she was declared dead by EMS.

“The family members alleged that on the same day at about 07:00, they left the 65-year-old woman still sleeping, and when they returned home at about 15:00, they found her motionless in a pool of blood.
