Three male suspects were apprehended by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department K9 officers in connection with an alleged armed robbery.

The incident occurred when the officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the intersection of Albertina Sisulu and Harrison Streets in Johannesburg, where a member of the public was reportedly robbed at gunpoint.

Upon arrival, the officers found that the victim had fatally wounded one of the suspects. According to the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), one suspect was apprehended at the scene of a crime.

Following interrogation, this suspect led officers to an informal settlement located at the intersection of Delvers and Melrose Streets, where the third suspect was hiding. The officers promptly located and arrested this individual as well.

“The two suspects were arrested and detained at Johannesburg Central SAPS on charges of armed robbery. A silver firearm with its serial number filed off was recovered as evidence at the scene,” the statement read.

JMPD issued a warning to criminals, stating that those targeting innocent members of the public will face unwavering law enforcement measures.

Stern warning to robbers

The statement emphasized that there is no safe haven for offenders, as officers will relentlessly pursue and apprehend them, ensuring they are prosecuted under the law.

Meanwhile, seven foreign nationals were arrested in Johannesburg for violating the Immigration Act.

This occurred when JMPD Tactical Reaction Unit officers, while patrolling Anderson and Delvers Streets, observed a group of unidentified males loitering outside a building.

According to the JMPD, officers engaged a group of individuals by tactically approaching them. During this interaction, it was determined that the individuals were foreign nationals lacking any form of identification.

The suspects, consisting of six males and one female, were detained at Johannesburg Central SAPS.

Law enforcement agencies have issued a warning to undocumented foreign nationals regarding compliance with immigration laws, stating that it is mandatory.

“Individuals identified as being in the country illegally will face arrest and will be transferred to the appropriate authorities for further action,” it warned.
