Woman, 46, arrested for murder, kidnapping a Pakistani businessman in Sebokeng

A 46-year-old woman has been arrested for murder and kidnapping a Pakistani businessman in Sebokeng on Monday.

According to police report, three african males driving a BMW X5 kidnapped the businessman only identified as Rajah in Lenasia just over two months ago.

A ransom of R12 million was demanded from his family, however an amount of R800 000 was paid for his safe return but unfortunately the suspects demanded more.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk, confirmed that a ransom was immediately demanded for the release of the kidnapped victim.

She stated that following extensive investigation, a multidisciplinary law enforcement team operationalised information they obtained on the location of the suspects in the area.

“A search of the identified property led the team to find the victim in one of the rooms. The body of an unidentified african male was also found at this premises. A female suspect was subsequently arrested at the scene.

“Police also recovered two cellphones from the scene which will form part of further investigations; more arrests are expected,” she explained.

van Wyk urged communities to immediately report to their nearest police station if any of their relatives or friends fall victim to kidnappers.

In another incident, three male suspects were arrested after they allegedly stabbed and killed a 26-year-old male on Tuesday, December 17, at about 03:30 in Masilo, Theunissen.

Free State police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli said their members received a complaint of an unknown male who was lying on the street.

Three suspects nabbed for murder

He added that upon arrival, they found the deceased lying on his back with multiple stab wounds and was declared dead on the scene.

“Preliminary investigations were conducted. Three suspects were Neo Moholoholo, 18, Mpho Mabesa, 20, and Mpho Leaba, 23, were subsequently arrested and charged with murder.

“They appeared in the Theunissen magistrate’s court on Thursday, December 19. The case was postponed to January 9 for bail application. They are remanded in custody,” he said.

Meanwhile, police in Thabong are seeking public assistance in locating the 28-year-old Thembile Sehoshe.

According to the police, Sehoshe could assist with investigations following a murder and attempted murder incident that occurred on Sunday, December 22 at about 08:44 in the area.

“Two male victims were stabbed, where an 18-year-old victim was fatally wounded and a 22-year-old severely injured. The injured victim was rushed to a local hospital by Emergency Services personnel,” Kareli stated.

He urged anyone with information that could assist with investigations to contact their nearest police station.
