Bishop Benjamin Dube, a prominent figure in gospel music, is celebrating 20 years of his In His Presence legacy by forging a partnership with Sony Music Entertainment Africa.

This collaboration aims to expand the reach of South African gospel music to international audiences, while also fostering opportunities for emerging artists in the genre.
Through this strategic move, Dube envisions not only honoring his accomplishments but also setting the stage for future growth within the gospel music community.
As he marks 20 years of the In His Presence legacy, the gospel heavyweight has announced a partnership between Dube Connection and Sony Music Entertainment Africa.
A move that could elevate South African gospel music to new international audiences while creating opportunities for a new generation of artists.
Pivotal moment in Dube’s career
The announcement comes at a pivotal moment in Dube’s career following his departure from Spirit of Praise, where he served as a leading figure for more than 15 years.
A revered figure in South African gospel music, he has long been a cornerstone of praise and worship across generations.
His timeless catalogue has shaped the spiritual and musical landscape, making him a trusted and beloved voice for audiences both young and old.
He said, “Partnering with Sony again is very sentimental for me. This time, it’s bigger and better, and I’m looking forward to breaking new ground as we step into this next chapter.”
As part of this landmark partnership, his extensive catalogue finds a new home with Sony Music Entertainment Africa.
Together, the team is set to roll out a series of exciting initiatives aimed at reintroducing his body of work to loyal fans while expanding his reach to new and broader audiences across the continent and beyond.
Katlego Malatji, director of Southern African Repertoire, highlighted the intentionality behind the partnership by saying the partnership is tailored to the bishop’s journey, understanding where he comes from and where he’s trying to go.
In a recent statement, Malatji has issued a challenge to the record label to justify its partnership with the Bishop, deeming this a reasonable expectation.
He expressed a desire for the bishop to provide feedback within a year, highlighting that such relationships could offer rich benefits for gospel artists.
Malatji emphasized the importance of mutual contributions between artists and record labels to foster effective collaborations, underscoring the potential advantages of these synergies.
Looking ahead, Dube is preparing for an active season, including upcoming performances across key African territories such as Tanzania, Uganda, the DRC and more countries.
In addition, fans can anticipate new music scheduled for release in the second half of 2026, further cementing his enduring presence and continued relevance in the gospel genre.

The celebration stands as a testament to Dube’s extraordinary impact on the gospel music industry. Over the decades, his work has not only inspired millions but has also served as a platform for nurturing and discovering great talents that are presently occupying the gospel industry.
Widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most influential gospel leaders, his legacy continues to shape the sound and spirit of worship music.
With an unwavering commitment to faith, excellence, and ministry through music, it is said Dube remains a towering figure whose influence spans generations, and this new partnership signals even greater things to come.
