Boitumelo Itumeleng Lebohang Mpshane, a VUT FM’s weekday afternoon drive show presenter is making waves in the media industry.
Most recently, he received two nominations for the South African Radio Awards: Afternoon Drive Presenter category which is open to the any presenter who plays the starring role in hosting the Afternoon Drive show typically between 4pm – 7pm (but not limited to these times) on weekdays.
Winners are set to be announced at a gala dinner on December 2, 2023.
The Radio Awards aim to honour and recognise exceptional and innovative excellence in the South African radio industry.
Armed with a Bachelor of Social Sciences, majoring in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (UKZN), Itumeleng’s journey to where he is now has been nothing short of remarkable.
His passion for the media industry has been a driving force since day one. When VUT FM extended an opportunity, Itumeleng seized it eagerly, embarking on a path that would forever change his life.
“It’s hard to believe that it’s only been seven months since I joined the VUT FM team, given the strides I’ve made,” said Itumeleng.
However, his journey has also not been without its fair share of challenges, especially considering that radio was an entirely new frontier for him.
Yet, he not only embraced the medium but excelled in it, earning him not one, but two nominations for the prestigious SA Radio Awards.
This recognition is a testament to his growth and genuine love for what he does.
The support and belief of those around him have been the bedrock of Boitumelo’s success. From colleagues to family and friends, it’s their unwavering faith in his potential that fuels his drive.
For Itumeleng, radio is a platform to touch lives in masses. Knowing that he might have positively impacted countless individuals by simply sharing his voice is a source of immense fulfilment.
Reflecting on his journey, Itumeleng recalls a pivotal moment. Years ago, he posted a clip on his social media platforms with the caption, “one day I’m going to be your favourite radio host.”

Little did he know that this proclamation would become his reality. This journey, he believes, is just the tip of the iceberg.
