The crew is well-known for a sharp response to the pressing issue surrounding impoverished communities through their region.

Recently, they donated food and snacks at Dzulani child and youth centre in Vosloorus.

The founder of the organization, Sphiwe Rahiema Mdaka said the idea to establish the organization was to lend a helping hand in to the community.

As the sole sponsor to at least 26 NGOs in the whole of Ekurhuleni that makes them the second major sponsor in the entirety region.

“What pushed us more is that some people were struggling to make ends meet. In our community there are non-profit organization but are struggling with essential necessity.

“We sat down as crew and combined ideas and came back with this solution. We are strictly a charity organization,” he said.

Founded in 2017, the organization assists various organizations dealing with orphanage, old age and homes for physically challenged children as well as anti-substance abuse centres just to name a few.

He added by saying they recently agreed on aiding people living with albinism and gender-based violence (GBV) organizations.

Each month they host a charity run where they identify a specific day and proceed to donate to one of their beneficiaries. The contributions varies from organization as they offer food, cleaning materials, sanitary towels, and some renovations.

According to Mdaka, not all organizations need food but assistance in painting and minor items.

It is believed if a beneficiary organization request for painting, on the day of the event the crew would roll up their sleeves and paint the area that requires painting.

Despite not receiving funds from the government, yet they manage to heed the call as their crew and some sponsors always avail themselves for tasks at hand.

Majority of contributions comes from the BMW crew who voluntary contribute money each month. However, the charity run does not only profit the beneficiary but the community as well.

Mdaka reckons: “On such occasions we also make sure the residents also gain [or get something from this]. We afford them an opportunity to showcase their creative talent whether be it in music, poetry sessions, and dance sessions from indigenous traditional dance”.

Other than scouting skills, they also promote local businesses and arts.
