A 21-year-old driver has been arrested by an off-duty police officer for possession of suspected stolen livestock in Mamphokgo village, Limpopo on Friday.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the sergeant was on his way home from work in the afternoon when he spotted a suspicious white Corsa Utility bakkie with a canopy.
“He immediately stopped the vehicle with the driver and one passenger. He searched the vehicle and found 16 goats and six sheeps, some with tampered branding.
“The driver claimed to be going to sell the livestock at Delmas auction but failed to produce the necessary documents.

“The passenger then jumped out of the vehicle and fled into bushes. The suspect aged 21 was nabbed for possession of suspected stolen properties,” Col Ledwaba elaborated.
The arrested suspect will appear before Motetema magistrate’s court on Monday.
Police investigations are still continuing.
