Lesufi made this announcement at the ANC Gauteng Cadre Assembly in Ellis Park this past weekend.

Addressing the crowd he said, “On 27th July 2023 at Orlando stadium, we are going to give fifty thousand appointment letters to people who will start their jobs on the 1st of August 2023,” to a loud cheer.

The Red Beret provincial chairperson Commissar Nkululeko Dunga said choosing to distribute appointment letters in a stadium setting undermines the integrity of the whole process and disregards the dignity and intelligence of the individuals involved.

“The decision to bypass the normal selection and notification process raises serious concerns about the fairness and the transparency of the process.

“It is unclear whether those present at the stadium are automatically appointed or are merely receiving their letters in person.

“This lack of clarity borders on favouritism, nepotism, and corruption, and has the potential to erode public trust in government institutions and processes.

“Distributing fifty thousand appointment letters in a stadium setting also poses significant logistical challenges.

“Crowd management, accurate delivery of each letter, and ensuring that all recipients receive their appointments without any errors or delays are just a few examples of the potential inefficiencies associated with this approach.

“It raises questions about whether this method was thoroughly thought or it is all about publicity stunts to satisfy selfish political egos.

Subjecting our people to filling up stadiums just to receive appointment letters creates the politics of spectacle where every little thing done by the government is made to seem like something big and life-altering.

“Panyaza Lesufi like a wolf, preys on the dejected and rejected masses of our people by further exposing them to indignity just to score political points.

“This spectacle can be avoided by merely calling all successful applicants to report to the relevant department they have been hired at not to a stadium where eve more money is being wasted on unnecessary logistics,” Dunga explained.

Dunga also said transparency is a cornerstone of any democratic society, and by deviating from established selection process without clear explanations or justifications, the Gauteng government risks breaching transparency standards and open doors for speculation and doubts about the integrity of the appointment process.

He continued; “Not that the ANC government cares about principles at this point. The ANC has had more than twenty nine in government and they failed to provide our people with sustainable jobs.

“Now that they are facing a real threat of losing government, they are parading our people in stadiums just to issue appointment letters.

“This is an insult to the intelligence and dignity of the people and must be condemned in the strongest terms.”
