The Gauteng Community Safety MEC, Faith Mazibuko conducted a public meeting with the community of Orange Farms on issues of safety.

The MEC emphasised the deployment of Gauteng Traffic Wardens and Patrollers as force multipliers in communities, including Orange Farm, to enhance safety and combat crime effectively.
Mazibuko also used the opportunity to introduce the newly appointed Orange Farm Station Commander, Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela to the community.
Born and bred in Mokopane in Limpopo and married with six children, who are all males – the former Randfontein Police Station Commander is a disciplined individual and man who is all about hard work.
Brig Manamela urged community members to cooperate and work with law enforcement officials to tackle issues of crime.
“I started working here on the twentieth (I think it is about a week ago) which was Monday. Already, I’ve met a number of stakeholders … I have to admit that we have challenges in Orange Farm such as crime, but we can conquer this if we work as a collective.
“We know that challenges are everywhere we work but I believe that criminals are few and if we squeeze the space we will definitely win against crime,” he remarked.
Matamela stated that the challenges that he has seen in Orange Farm since reporting here is that there are a lot of gender-based violence cases.

He added; “People are involved in fights, stabbing and when you examine the cause or motive it’s something simple that can be sorted.

“This means that our people don’t make use of the department of social development when they have some disagreements in the house.
“Another thing we are aware of is that, there is a lot of street robberies where people are stabbed and shot at as per evidence received from hospitals with most of the cases leading to death which is abnormal.”
