Kokota Piano signs for Matsatsantsa

Former Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy centre forward Samir Nurković has joined Matsatsantsa.

The Gavin Hunt-led club announced the acquisition of the Serbian on a one and-a-half year deal.

Kokota Piano, as he is affectionately known scored over 30 goals in his five years stay in the country and will be looking forward to increasing his goal tally during his Matsatsantsa stay. 

Nurković Phefeni Glamour Boys where he netted 13 league goals during the 2019/20 season.

At the beginning of the 2022 season, he joined KwaZulu-Natal side, Royal AM.

His stay at the club was acrimonious, with the club terminating his contract in October 2022, claiming the player had only reported for duty once, before an unofficial game.

FIFA ruled that the termination was unlawful, and Royal AM received a transfer ban effective 3 July 2023.

He then signed for TS Galaxy as a free agent in August 2023.

In a statement, Supersport United FC revealed that the 32-year-old will make his debut in the January transfer window, as the club waits for his work permit.

Speaking about the club’s new acquisition, CEO Stanley Matthews said Samir is a proven number 9 target man with a good track record.

Matsatsantsa style of play

“He will fit in well with our style of play, which looks to get crosses in from wide areas and to capitalize on set pieces,” he remarked.

Nurković stated that he is so happy and grateful to be at a wonderful and amazing club like SuperSport United FC.

He added; “I am very much looking forward to my first training session at the club, getting to meet my new teammates and getting to work.”

The Pretoria-based outfit next match will be away to Chippa United FC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Gqeberha on 26 November with kick-off scheduled at 19:30.
