Makaringe part ways with The Buccaneers

DStv Premiership side Orlando Pirates have confirmed Fortune Makaringe departure from the Club.

Following four incredible seasons and over 140 matches, our journey with the 31-year-old midfielder has come to an end, the Buccaneers said.

In a brief statement, the Soweto-based outfit further said words cannot fully express their gratitude and appreciation for Hosi.

“Throughout his time with us, he consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism and discipline. The club will always be grateful for his contribution and wishes him nothing but the best in his future endeavours,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the newly crowned Nedbank cup champions have also announced the exit of Assistant Coach Sergio Almenara by mutual consent as preparations for the 2024/25 season gets underway.

Almenara who has been with the team for two years initially submitted his request to leave the club earlier this year.

“However, the Soweto giant said to ensure the team’s progress and focus during the latter stages of the league and cup competitions, management chose to address this request at the conclusion of the season.

“This is a decision I took with a heavy heart,” Almenara admitted.

He added; “I have really enjoyed my stay here, but unfortunately, due to personal matters that the club is aware of, I can no longer continue with my job. I have a young family back in Finland.

“They have been unable to integrate into the country. I would have wished to stay longer, but unfortunately, it’s not possible.

“I would like to thank management, the technical team, players, and most importantly the fans for my stay. I will always remain a Buccaneer.”

The club revealed that with consultation of the head coach, will look to use this offseason break to find a suitable replacement as well as bolster the backroom staff in the technical, analysis, medical and conditioning departments.
