The Motoring festival which will takes place at Carnival City in Ekurhuleni on Friday, May 30, until Saturday, May 31, promises to be a grand celebration of car culture.

Motorsport enthusiasts, adrenaline junkies and thrill-seekers, are urged to mark their calendars as the highly anticipated Hyper Drift 2025 event is set to ignite the tarmac.

Tyres screech across the track, and numerous automated brands will display their greatest products as they skid and spin in a cloud of white smoke and fumes.

Through a statement, organisers say the coming premier motorsport spectacle promises an immersive experience that will leave fans on the edge of their seats.

South Africa’s top drifters will showcase their skills in intense head-to-head competitions, executing precision slides and breathtaking manoeuvres – entertainment that will keep the energy levels soaring throughout the event.

“This entertainment hub offers ample space for high-speed drift battles and provides spectators with unparalleled views of the action,” said Mikey Skelton

The venue’s infrastructure ensures a seamless experience for both drivers and fans, making it the perfect backdrop for this year’s event.

Carnival City was selected as the new venue for Hyper Drift 2025 due to its outstanding facilities and rich history of hosting large-scale events.

This adrenaline-pumping sport was born in Johannesburg’s sprawling Soweto township in the 1980s, when South Africa was still under the race-based apartheid system.

Combine tire smoke, engines on the edge of exploding, and drivers who get out of the car while it’s drifting to dance. That’s a description of the sport of Spinning that has emerged from the underground in South Africa into the mainstream.
