Enhanced security and access: New MyHomeAffairsOnline booking system live
PREVENTING MISUSE: MyHomeAffairsOnline gets major upgrade for better user experience.

This new system incorporates improved security measures designed to prevent the misuse of booking slots while enhancing access to services for users.

The initiative aims to streamline the booking process and ensure a more reliable experience for individuals seeking services from the Department.

According to the department, users are now required to create a MyHomeAffairsOnline profile linked to their South African ID number and email address before making a booking, helping to ensure that appointments remain available to legitimate clients.

The upgrade follows years of abuse of the previous booking platform by syndicates and other unscrupulous individuals who exploited vulnerabilities in the system to block appointment slots and sell them on to desperate citizens.

Home Affairs’ digital transformation journey

As a result, many ordinary South Africans struggled to secure appointments for essential home affairs services.

The upgraded booking system is available at MyHomeAffairsOnline and marks another milestone in Home Affairs’ digital transformation journey to improve service delivery, combat fraud and deliver dignity for all.

Dr. Leon Schreiber, the minister of home affairs, expressed that the previous booking system had allowed criminals to manipulate appointment slots, disadvantaging ordinary South Africans by hoarding and selling these appointments for profit.

To combat this issue, the migration to MyHomeAffairsOnline has been implemented, which directly ties bookings to verified user profiles. This change aims to enhance the integrity of the system and ensure better protection for citizens seeking access to services.
