The Economic Freedom Fighters in Sedibeng has condemned the clash between residents of Marikana and the ANC provincial government-led Wanya Tsotsi campaign on Sunday in Bophelong, Vaal.
Gauteng Department of Community Safety MEC, Faith Mazibuko, together with safety officials and ambassadors conducted a walk about in the area.
According to the department, the operation is aimed at addressing challenges faced by communities in fighting crime, forming partnerships with community structures, mobilising communities in the fight against crime.
The homes of wanted suspects in the community were also visited.
Isaac Khithika, the Red Beret regional chairperson said a clash ensued as some of the residents raised concerns regarding the visit which amongst others some leaders were wearing ANC and SANCO’s t-shirts.
“We would like to reiterate that we believe in the right for every political party campaigning freely.
“Wearing of party regalia during governments campaigns by political leaders who are not on government business is not a crime.
“Every citizen of Sedibeng has a right to belong and wear any political regalia of their choice,” he stated.

Khithika added that they will be engaging with Independent Electoral Commission to visit Bophelong with the aim of voter education and further register people to vote.
He continued; “We understand the frustrations of our community with the current ruling party, but call that they should vent their frustrations in the ballot box next year.”
